National health information system need of the hour

The epidemic has highlighted the necessity of having National health systems that are able to provide information about patients, according to presenters during the United Nations World Data Forum 2021 event yesterday. They were speaking in a panel titled "Data-driven Vaccination Strategy for a Covid-19 Free World" at the conference at Bern, Switzerland. "Such a system is not only needed for the pandemic but in general as well," said Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow of the Centre for Policy Dialogue, noting that the system currently in place should be utilized to the fullest extent. He added that any new issues including privacy and data security have to be taken into consideration as well.
